Yeah. Jacka were very unlucky with the drilling and testing at HMW-3. Reminds me of the luck Africa Hydrocarbons and DualEx Energy had at their Bouhajla prospect in onshore Tunisia. Bouhajla is targeting the Abiod and is a geological analogue to the the Sidi el Kilani oil field which has produced over 50 million barrels of oil.
The well has been plagued with all sorts of delays. It was initially meant to be drilled in 2012 but was postponed several times as a result of rig availability. When the well was drilled, they nearly lost it due to instability of the sloughing shales. They did manage to stabilise the well but on attempting to perforate the well, the charges did not go off. Seems the contractor most likely used expired charges!
They had a news release yesterday (Friday January 4th 2014) indicating that they will attempt a second completion operation.
