There has never been any president required to prove where he was born...until there's a black President. The birther movement was not about where Obama was born, it was about saying he's not one of us (ie...He's a nigger). Nobody making the allegation had any idea where he was born, but thought they'd run with that as a red herring assault on his legitimacy. Obama could have produced the certificate earlier, but all that would have done was brought about a new line of attack...because the initial attack wasn't sincere. People lying about his birthplace will simply engineer a new lie to attack him on.
