Just dug out the results of voluntary tests which I undertook in 2000 and again in 2005 as part of a Diabetes Institute study.
The recommended range for "Fasting Blood Glucose" level was "Less than 6.1 mmol/L" and the recommended range for 2 Hour Blood Glucose (i.e. 2 hours after drinking some vile tasting sugary crap) was "Less than 7.8 mmol/L".
In each case I was less (not by a lot!!) so was told to give the results to my doctor and he would advise further.........no drugs , just a healthier lifestyle as others here have outlined.
As I am not a doctor (pox, witch, philosophy or any other), I don't fully understand what those ranges mean but provide them to you as a bit of info you might want to discuss with your doctor.......surprise him with your new-found knowledge....always throws the smug bastards off their game...even if only for a delicious moment or two.
