Ministry records increase in issuing of environmental impact certificates

Luanda - The National Department of Environmental Impact Assessment of the Environment Ministry issued until the third quarter of this year 118 licenses of operation and installation, in the ambit of the prevention and mitigation of damages to the environment.

the national director for Prevention and Environmental Assessment, Sandra Nascimento, said that the number of permits issued has increased considerably, since in 2013 about 80 permits were issued.
Sandra Nascimento added that the projects implemented in violation of the obligations relating to environmental impact assessment and without an environmental permit, shall be punished in accordance with the law, without mentioning the number of companies that have suffered a penalty for disobedience.
Investment in capacity building of the technicians in the field of the environment and new technologies, among other initiatives are in the pipeline for strengthening research and assessment of environmental impacts in Angola.
