Diamond polishing plant reopens

Luanda - Daimond polishing and jewellery activity in the country has reopened to go in a sustainable way, Angop learned Friday in Luanda.

The information was released by the CEO of the Angolan National Diamond Company (Endiama EP), Carlos Sumbula.
The official was speaking during the “Diamond Night” that went under the International Mining Fair (FIMA), that included a display of locally polished jewellery.
According to him, this will increase job in the country, some of which occupied by some people with physical disability currently being trained in Belgium.
“Opening this plant means also launching a challenge to Angolan artists to make drawings that must be delivered to Endiama to produce jewellery designed by Angolans,” he said.
Regarding polishing, the official said that it is too early to talk about the output to achieve, because the plant is still in a period of machine tuning, but the intention is to start in Luanda and then optionally install another in Lobito and so on.
