just my opinion but I'd say the filthy rich would always prefer natural diamonds no matter if synthetics could produce 10ct diamonds for ten bucks each.
Got to remember though that small (< a few carat) diamonds were never really a rarity - you should have been able to buy 1ct diamonds for $100 and would have been able to were it not for the diamond cartel which artificially inflates prices by holding back supply. The whole diamond market is a cheat - except for the really big stones - so the lower end of the diamond market will be heavily impacted by synthetics. As for coloured diamonds the synthetics people can just as easily make them by adding other elements. Easy-peasy.
This is where LOM has an advantage. It appears to be in the bigger end of diamond finds, 'cause in the end it will only be the big stone producers who'll survive. That's the way it looks to me. Feel free to disagree.
