Diamonds are recovering from the Corona low


The diamond price has recovered extremely in recent months. Producers like Lucapa Diamonds are also benefiting from the rising prices.

Now the producer is building Australia's largest commercial diamond mine.



Lucapa Diamond Company Limited (ASX: LOM , FSE: NHY ) has submitted an updated scoping study for the Merlin Diamond Project in Australia. It reflects that diamond prices have recovered from their corona shock in recent months and have risen sharply by 42 percent. This also increases the value of the Merlin project, which is already certified as having a potential of 2.1 million carats.



A project worth billions is being developed
The quantity of rock processed of 14 million tons, which was already assumed in the first version of the scoping study, has not changed, nor has the estimated useful life of the mine at 14 years. 69 million Australian Dollars (AUD) are calculated for the construction of the mine infrastructure and the preparation for production.

Three different scenarios were calculated for the expected production of around 2.1 million carats. The worst case scenario expects sales of A$1.6 billion. In the base case, this increases to A$2.0 billion and in the best case scenario, to A$2.4 billion.
