Will Jim Richards (Geologist) and Chief Executive Officer for UKD ever get a Nobel Prize? Probably not, but he will certainly receive some significant recognition if he finds Diamonds on UKD’s Moonlight Valley prospect.

The story goes that when UKD took over this project from THX they drilled blindly throughout the northern part of the claims north of the Aries pipe and through the Carson Volcanic. This was thought to cover and mask any kimberlite intrusions. As it eventuated after 1,958m of drilling no further pipes were found in that area. It was always speculated that any new pipes lay North of the Aries pipe

But during the previous Bauer drilling (big diameter drill holes) into the three known kimberlite, Jim Richards discovered a considerable geological significance associated with the Kimberlites. It appeared that the Kimberlites intruded through the structures previously opened up and used by the Hart Dolerite.( this was an older occurance)

So with this new information he looked for any other Hart Dolerite, and found a large area south of the known kimberlites. A ground study found this to be about 10 sq kms in size but had a 3 – 7 m alluvial soil cover. This was discovered in 2005.

Now in Aug – Sept 2006 a ground gravity geophysics survey over Moonlight Valley was completed. They found 13 Kimberlite targets from this survey, the largest of these anomalies, now known as T9 is approximately 4 hectares, (40,000 sq mtrs), but could be larger if a close T8 target is joined. (This method was the same used to find the Athena and Persephone kimberlites.)

What’s our chances of a new find? In my opinion very great and we will not have to wait very long. I heard over the weekend they are now drilling and although this is from an unconfirmed source it should be correct.

Watch for any fresh share activity although this will be hard as the new Iron Ore claims are attracting a lot of off shore interest.

Anyway a great story, great exploration theory by Jim Richards and I hope he is successful.
