This isn't entirely correct, if they bought on the market the day before an announcement was released then it would likely be classed as insider trading.
Over at LTR, the directors are regularly buying on market or converting their options well before the due date. They do this well in advance of any announcements though, it's always a good sign as a holder to see the people in charge willing to put their own cash into the company though.
It's all in the timing obviously, but directors buying on the market is good sign imo.
