put a carbon footprint tax on the imported tomatoes, end of story. That way all nations will have some kind of incentive to stop whining and to start producing for fair trade balance. We want to minimise the impacts caused by use of fossil fuels, but what we are doing is putting profits ahead of environmental balance by importing goods because they are cheaper.
All leaders are against protectionism to save face. However, I believe they'll turn to carbon footprint tax for economic balance instead. Different name, same effect
