Firstly, I don't mean to be critical of DDR or for that matter any other company on the ASX. I think we can agree that there is more than one way to make money.
For myself, I reduce the investment risk by applying various criteria. I prefer companies which generate free cash and have controllable capital investment, ideally with a strong balance sheet with a current ratio >1.5. I also limit my buying to 10% of my portfolio which controls the black swan risk.
I hold about 10-11 stocks, currently 8 up and two down so I am content. SBB is my worst but you have to admit it has a strong balance sheet. HFA has been my best in the last 2 years.
I thought about it more over the weekend and picked up a few UOS today which I think you are a fan of. It is illiquid but I am long term so this is not a concern to me. I topped up a few CCP as well. Regarding DDR I would like to see positive operating cashflow before considering again. I am tantalized by CAB but will wait to see how Uber actually performs.
