IM Medical, Heart Care Victoria to jump-start Intelliheart testing

IM MEDICAL’S Intelliheart diagnostic system took a step closer to nationwide rollout with the announcement that Heart Care Victoria’s cardiologists will provide specialist electrocardiograph interpretation for the Intelliheart cardiovascular test.
The Intelliheart enables the early diagnosis of the risk of developing cardiovascular disease.
Heart Care Victoria is a specialist cardiology group that already provides a range of cardiology-related services across Victoria, and will now provide specialist interpretation of IM’s Intelliheart reports to patients.
The deal follows last month’s agreement with Sigma Pharmaceuticals for the partially Medicare-funded Intelliheart test to be sold through Amcal, Amcal Max and Guardian pharmacies nationwide.
Customers purchase Intelliheart from a pharmacy and then make an appointment for the test at a nearby centre. Test data are then sent to IM Medical for an assessment and report by a GP. This report is then sent to the patient.
IM’s deal with the cardiology group will also mean that Victorians who purchase an Intelliheart test will get streamlined access to specialist appointments at Heart Care Victoria if they want them.
Intelliheart will be rolled out across 200 Victorian pharmacies this month, with other states to follow later in the year.
