There are so many basic doctrinal differences between Catholicism and Islam that I doubt that Islam is the creation of the Catholic Church.

It is true that there was a stage in which Mohamed was friendly towards Christians of his day, but this turned sour when he realised that the Christians were not prepared to play ball and accept him as their leader.

Muslims have been good at embracing ideas from those with whom they came in contact including those that they conquered. So in the fields of things like architecture and dress it is not surprising that some ideas were copied from the CC.

Muslims have not been known for original thought which accounts for the low number of Nobel prizes among Muslims.
