    The Pacific Solution seemed costly at the time, but is no where near the massive $6 billion or so that is being spent on Gillard's current failure to stop the boats.

    Charts posted earlier in the thread show a drop in asylum seekers world wide by about 40% (estimate) and yet Australia went from 5516 arrivals in 2001 to ONE arrival in 2002 after the Pacific Solution was introduced. In fact, world asylum seeker numbers did not fall at all in that same year according to the chart in this thread. Push factors...it doesn't seem it had anything to do with it.

    CGT fails to mention that the numbers started to increase here when Rudd finished the Pacific Solution. That has far more weight to the problem than percentages that don't even add up. It started a very strong PULL factor, imo.

    If memory serves me correctly, CGT is a self confessed propagandist - might explain the posts...lol
