If that's the definition that you use, go for it.
Personally, I can't hold strong beliefs unless there is evidence for doing so. Your dictionary doesn't mention evidence.
Here is a definition from Google. I go along with the second definition which mentions proof (I would substitute evidence for proof); the first one doesn't.
