    The NT is an offshoot of the OT, an offshoot that Orthodox Judaism rejects. If the descriptions of God in the OT are objectionable, it must be pointed out that the writers of the NT considered the God of the OT to be their God. That the God of the OT is the very same God in the NT....except of course this god has had a radical makeover, evolving through the thoughts of believers from the god of war of the tribe of Israel to a Universal Creator, from a killer to a God of Love, yet not so loving as to allow unconditional universal forgiveness for perceived transgressions, or dropping eternal damnation, torment or annihilation for finite transgressions...
