Being born here does not automatically qualify for Australian Citizenship. We are one of the countries where Citizenship is not granted automatically if you are born here to foreign parents. The Fijian President is quoted as saying; "that he has not entered the country nor applied for citizenship since birth,” That does not mean he would not qualify if he applied.
Isn't a person required to write to the Office of Immigration in the country concerned and relinquish their rights to Citizenship? We just went through that here where MP's claimed they were not citizens of another country as well, but they apparently could apply or be granted as they had not ever relinquished their right to Citizenship.
I think Dutton is on the money...Fiji just doesn't want this scum back in their country...as we don't...imo
