As with Jesus and other great teachers, the problem is to define which version one is discussing.
The semi-mythical version depicted in scriptures and folk tradition ? The version constructed by scholars from bits and pieces and their own ideas ? The version constructed by various and varied of the true believers ? The version constructed by various and varied enemies etc ? Or the actual historical man ?
All are quite different and in a sense all exist even if only in the minds of men or pages of scripture.
So, which Muhammad/Jesus/Buddha actually existed ?
