Cheers Westcott,
This bit is taken from a Canadian explorer in Guinea:
- Guinea has between 15-20 Billion dollars of foreign investment going into development of infrastructure to service mining activities.
- Guinea is slated to produce over 10% of the world's Iron ore.
- Guinea is the world's largest producer of bauxite with an estimated 25-50% of the world's reserves. Guinea exports 15 million tonnes of bauxite annually.
- The Government of Guinea is planning to build a 340 megawatt coal fired electrical station to service the mining industry near Boke."

Each of the big 3 (Rio, BHP and Vale) have interests in Guinea.
Not to mention the Chinese who are keen to vertically integrate.
