Due to the excess weight carried by the car & the amount of torque generated by the motor, these cars are destroying the roads at a far quicker rate than ice vehicles.
If everybody drove a Mack truck, would our roads last longer, shorter or the same????
This same reasoning stands for the electric car invasion.
Roads will need to be upgraded (at what cost to the environment) or legislate ludicrous speed to the bin due to the destructive nature (or pay the cost for air port runway or drag strip road preparation equivalent on our streets).
