re: diff b/t ex - date and record date - rem I've since consulted an old text book lol, and yes your right, well 99% right anyway. The record date is merely the date by which owners are decided etc. bla bla bla.
At the end of the day as long as you buy BEFORE the ex-div date you are entitled to the div.
