Only thing I can say is I have great confidence in the Karoon board to achieve the right outcome for Karoon.
An article I posted way back stated bid between US$1.5 and US$1.7 bill. That's a very tight range. As for whether it is a bargain, well..... the devil is in the detail, as they say. I think it is fair to say that at the very least, as an entry point to production for Karoon it is still a great starter. I am unsure of potential synergies with Echidna etc.
To my mind, a bargain depends on two simple things, assuming field performance is as expected.
1. the price per barrel paid
2. the future price of oil.
What does concern me is the future price of oil. I am far from convinced we will even see a solid $70 bbl in the future and yet Macq is doing scenarios @ that sort of pricing. New fields seem to be aiming for <$35 bbl breakeven.
