I think you need to do a little more research. It’s not possible sans blockchain. Blockchain ‘is’ the function, and yes anyone can build their own ledger but if it records and transacts the way blockchain does then all you’ve done is built your own blockchain..it’s still blockchain..
And no it’s not just useful for currency/money, it’s a record keeping tool which will probably be adopted throughout the world by every industry, given time - it’s like google...for records... but more permanent.
