I am about to get a cochlear implant very shortly, hopefully early next year.
Anyway, I haven't seen any mention of this anywhere on here (so forgive me if it's already been mentioned), but the only difference between the Nucleus and the Freedom is that the Nucleus is a little bit slimmer (we're talking maybe 1-2mm) and it's also stronger and more robust - it was designed with children in mind on the chance they fall over and bump their head, etc.
In terms of speech quality, etc. there is absolutely NO difference I'm told.
I for one don't believe it's worth sitting out and waiting for the Nucleus to return to the market, I am actually very excited to get my implant done and I'm really looking forward to it.
Hopefully next year I'll be able to update and tell you how amazing it actually is - fingers crossed. And if it lives up to half of the expectations I have, I'll probably buy a decent size parcel as well.
