Aircore drilling is used for testing near surface but normally restricted in fresh rock. The results may be used subject to certain conditions for resource calculations. It is better quality that RAB and lower cost than RC. The drill returns are cuttings (chips).
For Diamond Drilling, the results can be used for all resource calculations including up to measured. The other information that can be obtained from diamond drilling is both geological and geotechnical information for use in mining studies, planning, etc. It is the most expensive method of drilling so isn't normally used until the final information is required unless drilling depth or strength of rock is a limiting factor. The drill returns can be core or if non coring drilling it is in chips.
Hope this helps.
