Yes, IG is better than CMC in regards the opening time. If you have a trade open overnight, you might be sure that it will get slaughtered at 9.50, but there's nothing you can do about it, and sure enough it flashes 20 points and takes out your stop in the first 1 second. With IG, you can close before 9.50.
Regarding them making money from the punters, I asked IG if they are happy for people to make a killing with multiple scalps all day long. IG replied: "IG doe not make money when a client loses money, nor do we lose money when a client makes money. We only make money from the spreads and commissions that we charge."
I guess that's because they are DMA if you have over $2,000 in your account.
