Not sure RR can be blamed for Bardoc pulling the pin on the project. Costs spiralled ahead on the decision to build a plant so the board decided the risk was too high. He was let go as there was no longer any need for him once the plan to mine was cancelled.
Maybe something similar could happen here, though less likely with a much higher gold price than a couple of years ago imo.
