This award was bordering on the surreal - a shameful exercise in bad judgement. What kind of signal does it send about the values of the West Australian mining industry? That appalling Governance and Board incompetence, bordering on the criminal, resulting in the misuse and loss of millions of dollars in shareholder funds, is OK in WA? I understand it was voted on by a bunch of junior media hacks with next to no knowledge of the recources sector, purely on the basis of the presentations made at the Forum. It makes a mockery of the Forum and the resources sector. Reputation matters in a world where the mining indsutry is competing for investment, skills and respect. There were plenty of more deserving winners, who aren't so dreadfully tainted. The laughs at my table and those around me when the award was announced said it all.
