digging deep without a decline

As MCO shareholders ponder the benefits & huge cost of a decline at Woods Point, some of you may have watched the documentary the other night on the Tau Tona mine in Sth Africa, the world's deepest gold mine.

The Tau Tona mine doesn't have a decline but a shaft that goes straight down nearly 4 kilometres with high speed winders. Temperatures are around 55 C down there & rock under pressure shatters like glass. The reef they were mining was only about 20 cm wide.

After watching the Tau Tona documentary, I question whether MCO needs a decline and ponder what riches might lie in the 4 kilometres under Morning Star if we could go that deep .

Do we need a decline? How deep can we go? Any comments?
