I will take your word that a microchip and sim card are the same. This new technology is a mystery to me. For example recently when the banks etc had an internet problem and people couldn't pay for food and petrol it didn't affect me because I pay with physical cash as I always do. Will the government be able to guarantee that people won't lose their identity if there is an internet problem? They could have a backup . A QR tatoo on the forearm perhaps although I think this has been done before using a different rationalisation. Never mind our clever politicians present the solution for our own wellbeing.
