Options have completely different dynamics to regular shares.
Let's say you are in the money at some point. You have three options:
1. Pony up the cash to exercise the options. That's a lot of cash.
2. Sell the options. You lose the chance at any further upside.
3. Hold the options until the last minute. SP could dive for unrelated reasons, e.g. global market crash, and you lose everything.
No one gives out extra reward without the extra risk..
