    hi blackscarib,

well i suppose you can use anticipation,

    guess work,

    a gut feeling,

but the best way is to know your charts and believe in what's coming next,
and this come's from experience and knowing which direction your stock are heading,
to trade bullish in a stock that is in a bearish day would have to be the hardest of the trades for you to achieve,

practise paper trading first then give it a shot,

all so may i suggest you trade with small numbers at first were you can cover your brokers fees,

that way your loses will remain small as well,

all so another safety tip for you might be to trade nothing but the blue chip stocks for a while,
because if your trade turn around and bit you on the a$$ (and they will) then you can wait untill they bounce back to a price were you can have a win,
so hold onto them then rather then selling them and takeing a loss.

that way you can live to fight another day,

    cheer's
