Scripture is so very dangerous in the hands of the religious and never more so after 2,000 years of man injecting his own little take on the meaning of Scripture to the point where it is all but useless as a guide.
As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man - this speaks of the rejection of Christ, His suffering and difficulties just as Noah was rejected by the people of His age. It has nothing to do with global destruction or end of world cults. Christ is saying that the Messengers of God are rejected and caused to suffer for speaking a new truth.
