in the make up of an atom, if the nucleus was the size of a fruit bowl in the centre of a sports stadium, then an electron would be something like a cherry somehwere on the outer periphery of the car park.
so much empty space, and yet, miraculously, strong enough to be the building block of all matter, and powerful enough to unleash devastating destructive force if plied apart.
best not to take too simplistic an approach to nature.
