Yes population growth has been a major contributing factor to the explosion that has been our energy needs. But if are to address the problem of Global Warming we must first address Greenhouse Gas emissions. Birth control will happen in time, mostly through education and increasing the affluence of the ROTW.

China abolished the one child policy only around 15 years ago. Since then the birth rate has declined. This is due to increased education and the provision of employment opportunities with improved working pay and conditions. This affluence and understanding of the world around them has provided a disincentive for young married to have children. Its the same effect in Aus, US and EU.

Don't get hung up on population... its misleading and the wrong end of the stick.

Do you know what the meaning is of the phrase "taking up the cudgels"?? Please look it up before writing rubbish!

Do you know the numbers we import into this country every year under the many categories??

That is all I said - we cannot have a policy to deal with AGW but continue with a policy that works against that policy!!
