Paul Harriss: Mt Lindsay mine approval follows robust assessment

The Liberal Government will not be apologising for approving a mining lease to Venture Minerals for Mt Lindsay, near Tullah.
The application was thoroughly assessed by Mineral Resources Tasmania (MRT) in accordance with all relevant legislation.
Comments by a Green front group, Save the Tarkine, are complete and utter rubbish and a continuation of the relentless campaign by this organisation to destroy this mining project.
There is absolutely no room for doubt about the legality of the mining lease. It has been through a rigorous assessment by MRT.
Venture has already spent more than $30 million over seven years developing this project.  It also has very substantial technical resources, including highly experienced geologists, engineers and environmental specialists to drive the project.
MRT assessed the full information from the company’s Development Proposal and Environmental Management Plan – the same level of information required to be provided to the Environment Protection Authority.
MRT provided a full assessment report and recommendation that the lease be granted.
