Sisyphus
I have been watching Areva for some time. Essentially this company is owned by the French Government. There is a small Chinese shareholding. Areva got slam dunked by Fukashima and has had trouble since. Areva is mainly an engineering company and makes nuclear power stations. The Finnish station you referred to is 10 years overdue for completion. Areva hasnt had a commission for a nuclear station since 2007.
Another French nuclear company (EDF) will probably buy part of Areva and the Chinese may increase their stakeholding. The French Government essentially owns both Areva and EDF but Hollande (Socialist) is not keen to bail Areva out with a cash injection.
The uranium arm of Areva is relatively small and will have been struggling along with all the uranium companies (tell me about it!!).
Whatever happens to Areva, I suspect the uranium arm will carry on as usual.
