Sir Les and the other big boys sold their options at around $2.70 and $3.40 in two lots and made a heap of money. I am not sure how much but it could have been around $10m for Sir Les.
Good luck to them.
We can not blame management for the drop in the price of gold which is what has killed off the share price. Eventually they will optimise the mining costs at a lower level, but if the POG falls then profits will be squeezed. It was fear of this eventuality that made me sell out of SLR last year (regretably not at the top!).
Such is life when speculating in mining companies.
At least Sir Les is showing that he cares about where the share is by buying shares. I doubt it will have much impact given the fear in the market.
