Melua's comment regarding the market's evaluation of the prospects of the company is a cogent reminder of the importance of what Tim Treadgold said in his thoughtful and well-reasoned article. The world-wide graphite game has been irrevocably changed. The industry shakeout is coming. Everyone and his brother now knows that the SYR deposit at Balama contains more graphite than the rest of the world's known reserves combined. Further, it will be extremely cheap to mine and process, since large areas outcrop at the surface. As if that were not enough, mining costs will be further covered by the fact that it is quite probably the largest known vanadium deposit in the world.

What this means is that any evaluations of graphite deposits which have been done, based on the position as it was 15 months ago, are now no longer valid - and the market knows that. The time for pretending that Balama will just go away if you bury your head in the sand for long enough, is over. The market has worked out that AXE will be competing against a rival which has one-to-two hundred times as much product, in a more readily mineable orebody - and they do not like the resultant profit prospects.
