Brendan has some fine pts... however being a very strong advocate of being guided by Inside Trading this is a better guide than nothing.

I like to work out the insider trade based on their salary and how many shares they own already. If you were a Director of BHP then 100k would be nothing to you. Probably relative to a 3k bet from a small Speccie Director.

$$$ is relative to the holder. 30k as an inside trade in this instance is not bad. Some more punts by the other Directors would personally get me loading up a lot more.

Many professional investors I know use a large part of inside trading as guidence in their overall LT holds. It only natural some WISH he bet $50K UP, yet 30k not bad.

One thing that really pops out to me is that my database points out no other Director buys or sells 'on market' EVER. Meaning they all been issued as apart of salary, never sold unless left as a Director, etc. Very rare.

Hopefully 1 of many more insider trades to come.
