    It does not matter if a director is buying or selling prior to an announcement. If there is ANY chance that the director has information that is pertinent to SH then he/she cannot deal in the companies shares - period.

    Anything other than a very strict interpretation of the rules is nonsense.

    If the director bought shares on the 7/11 and an announcement construed as market sensitive is made on 8/11, then that director should be investigated - no question. Its a very difficult area and directors are usually very aware of the rules - so I doubt this director has actually done anything wrong, IMO.
