Thats a silly analogy. Gold prices were fixed by government in the 1920s and 1930s.
If the increase in nominals is greater than the rate of deflation (not implausible during an equity crash), gold will be crushed. There's other scenarios for sure depending on fiscal/monetary policy responses, but given a five-year wait for the project to start earning, this is the macro risk we are exposed to
