I think you're right. The key to getting big bucks from pharma was getting one of their own programs (e.g. CD40L) into the clinic to show phylomers were safe and could perform as drugs, but they haven't addressed this - hence the piddling upfront "discovery" deals with royalties ten years away. Haven't seen anything new to say that CD40 has really progressed in the last three years - suppose the scientists have been busy on the discovery work while Nick et al work on their frequent flyer points, and no-one's focussed on the really important issue.
