"SAMPLE ANALYSIS TIMING
A number of shareholders have contacted the Company over the past few months querying the
timing of receipt of analysis results. With the huge increase in exploration and mining activity in
Australia over the past few years, typically the turn-around time from despatch of samples to
receipt of sample analysis is now six to seven weeks, considerably longer than it was a few years
ago when exploration results could come back within 24 hours.
Despatch of the samples does not occur immediately the drill rig finishes a hole. In the case of
Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling, where a sample of drill chips is produced, the samples for
analysis are not despatched until the hole is geologically logged by the geologist and the samples
either split or composited, whichever is required. This can take 24-48 hours from the time of
drilling. In the case of Diamond Drilling (DD), where a cylinder, or core, of solid rock is produced
as a sample, the process is much more involved. The diamond core is first cleaned and then it is
oriented to make sure its orientation relative to the rock strata is known. It is then geologically
logged by the geologist, photographed, marked and cut with a diamond saw into two halves. Half
the core is then bagged and despatched for analysis. Geological logging of the diamond core is a
very detailed process and can take days or weeks, depending on the amount of core involved and
the number of geologists available."
