All the points you have made strike a chord with me. I recall trawling through mining services stocks a few years ago, and because I only needed one, I preferred MND over LYL. LYL's West African initiatives bothered me because of a prejudice I have about West Africans - Nigerian crooks have done much to damage West Africa's image.

Anyhow, in recent months I read an article that from an investing-in-mining perspective gave Ghana a few ticks - the main one being that it has a reasonably educated population who make good employees, and it is a business-friendly country, and hence if one services other West African markets from a base in Ghana, it can work well. In the meantime the anti-business Australian Government has taken the shine out of Australia, so what was to me a relative-to-Australia negative a year or two ago is now a relative positive. Companies who know West Africa, and invest there should do well.
