Dirk has become the self-appointed expert on RNAi stocks because of his blog, where he advertises his services and Research Reports. Obviously, those in the industry don't agree with his over-inflated sense of importance as the contracts and job offers have not eventuated and his research reports can now be purchased for a fraction of their original prices.

However, he has now found the winning formula. All he has to do is place his long and short positions, make comments accordingly, and 'SURPRISE' it makes him money. Nobody knows what he is holding or shorting until he mentions it. He has admitted to being a major shareholder in Marina, that was on the verge of bankruptcy a year ago. He has made a truckload since he bought in last year and started pumping it.

This is way more lucrative than working as a scientist in a small biotech company. Anyway, obviously he no longer cares as he is dissing every RNAi company in the World, except for Tekmira, in which he holds a truckload of shares, and newly incorporated Solaris where he is no doubt hoping to gain tenure. Amongst the remainder, he has become a pariah.

Time to stop being bothered by what Dirk says, retaliating to it just gives him more opportunity to make money.
