    Those modern 250cc 4 strokes are prety quick, should easily beat an old XR350...the 250cc 4 strokes generally race against the 250 2 strokes these days, as the 450+cc 4 strokes make a lot more power then the 2 stroke 250's. Having said that it depends on the tracks...long straights give me a 4 stroke, tight with jumps give me a 2 stroke.

    Anyway I have gone off topic. So, it seems a YZ250 is off the table.

    How about a Yamaha TTR-230 or TTR-250? Pretty similar spec to the old XR250.
