Oh, OK - if we're all going to be dragging up old comments and statements - here's my contribution:-
There will be no carbon tax under the Government I lead.
It would be both fair and reasonable to assume that the average voter out there would have believed this comment as it was certainly delivered with every intent possible. Problem is we now have a Minority Government and the fact that deals come with the territory.
This current Minority Governments' position is flapping in the breeze greater than you declare the Opposition's to be and as many before me have said - Denben you are out of touch with reality. The fact that our PM "has" to do this to stay in power is just a symptom of the system. It however, cannot be covered up by continually throwing out one-liners attacking the Opposition who - now listen carefully - have NO POWER to do anything.
I have no malice against a Government wishing to stay in power, but not at "any" cost as seems the current trend...
