Worship means worthiness, yes mainly directed at a deity but there are those that worship money some worship freedom but have no allegiance or faith to a deity just to an idea.

religion is the basic mechanical functions one may perform ie Muslims praying toward Mecca. Etc.

Atheism ,materialism, immaterialism such as Christianity are all just world views.

But when dissected down or deconstructed to their constitutional elements they are essentially truth statements.

Christianity is a collection of truth statements that provide a basis of a religion or world view. Atheism is the same it is a collection of truth statements that provide a world view that their followers see worthiness in.
