Respectfully have to disagree in that it is that simple - we could go on for ages about all the intricacies. Last year we saw a few big items ie 47% increase in profits, phase 3 into blockbuster starting and competition going backwards to name a few big positives, the negatives I will leave aside for now, but that all made zero difference to share price increasing because shorters simply pump in more fake sell liquidity whenever they desire. A share buyback is a prolonged and ongoing exercise, it can take many months or more than a year to complete and this is what it will take to push shorters out. They are selling fake shares and liquidity every single day to control the price, if they have sustained real buying pressure over many months they will understand they (shorters) have competition in buying back shares and profits will be much harder for them to generate. An initial $20 - $30 Million allocated to the program could be simply 'topped up' each 6 months or 12 months with another $5 or $10 Million out of Clinuvel's exceptional profits. Not only would this eventually drive shorters off but it would attract many other investors who would see the company was interested in protecting shareholder interests. And reducing the number of shares on issue with a buyback is never a temporary solution, it is actually of everlasting significance to financials by reducing the number of shares on issue, ie there are less shares out there to spread profits amongst each year thereafter. With CUV it is already quite amazing there are only 50 Million shares out there on issue.
